The Valley Below
'The Valley Below' follows the story of troubled soldier turned Nottingham policeman Jack Elmore, who after a violent run in with a dangerous Irish gang, is sent back to his home of Cairn Valley.

Upon arriving, Jack rediscovers a past he tried hard to escape from and a post-war world bereft of hope, where everyone has suffered irreparable losses.

Following a rise in strikes and local violence, culminating in the death of a beloved mine foreman, Jack finds himself alone as he fights to stop a scheming local politician, confront his own violent past and save a town hell bent on destroying itself.
About The Author
Dan is a scriptwriter and novelist hailing from the former mining town of Bolsover, Derbyshire.

Born and raised working class, Dan's writing deals with issues of moral ambiguity, violence, regret, low-rent love and beauty, albeit with a dark optimism.

Dan's writing often features morally questionable heroes, insurmountable odds and doomed romance.

Deeply inspired by the work of McCarthy, Elmore Leonard and other writers in the Southern Gothic genre, Dan combines this with a localised authenticity indicative of a writer who knows where he comes from.

Mea Culpa

After a nasty break-up, a drunken suicide attempt and the downward spiral of his personal life, troubled British writer Barry Finch travels to Los Angeles in pursuit of a "dream" job offer and a much needed fresh start. Upon arriving in Hollywood, Barry finds himself thrown headlong into a neon world of excess and self-loathing that is in many ways more complex than the one he left; struggling to keep his head above water as he battles past demons, his worsening addictions and a bad case of writer's block, all the while trying to manage a "real job" and his encounters with three mysterious women who seem to gravitate into his life.
MEA CULPA is a story about life and death, fights and forgiveness, cigarettes and alcohol and the things we do in the pursuit of love; a tale of good intentions and bad decisions in the city of angels.
